I walked along the open meadow, enjoying the smell of the flowers. The colored popped out as if you could touch them, so vibrant and full of life. The tall grass tickled my ankles as I wandered along. I looked up into the clear, blue sky, covering my eyes from the bright sun.

The sound of my name drew my attention back to the meadow, directly in front of me. Nana stood a few steps away from me with her arms stretched out to me. Of course I ran to grasp her in a tight embrace. “Be careful with an old woman would you.” Her laughter sounded like music to my ears. How I missed her laugh.

“Nana, how is this possible? I have missed you so much. I feel so alone now. What am I going to do without you?” I cried tears of joy and sadness as I refused to let her go.

Nana pulled back from me. “Why are you crying my strong, beautiful girl? I will always be with you. All you have to do is think about me and I will be right there.” She smoothed my hair back from my face as she wiped my tears away. Replacing my tears with a kiss on each cheek.

“It isn’t the same Nana. I want to talk to you every day, give you a hug every day, and have you talk to me.”

“Yet here we are dear. The mate bond is strong enough for you to visit me anytime you want. He brings you peace of your mind, body, and soul.”

“I don’t know what to do though Nana. He rejected me right after we got here, when you…… fell.” The tears streamed down my cheeks again with the memory.

“Dear, dear, dear. It was my time to go. If it had not been my time then I would still be there. The Moon Goddess is the one that makes this possible. Our loved ones live on. You keep me alive in the dream realm. I will always be here. There is something coming though. I am here to let you know that you are going to have the power of choice. You are very special as you have learned. You were kept in the dark and hidden because of this reason.” Nana laced her fingers with mine. “Walk with me my dear.”

“You will have a decision to make. You are coming to the crossroads of your life now. Your powers will be used for good very soon. You will have the answers soon. Choose wisely as you have more free will than most. No decision will be wrong. You need to decide what is best for you.” We walked to a stream as we sat on the log.

I glanced around as I could hear a thumping. “What is that Nana? Do you hear it too?”

The thumping intensified as if a drum were being beat. “That is the sound of your heart dear. Your heart is so muffled by the anger and bitterness you hold against yourself.
